Bio
Chica Ayala studied sculpture at Universidad Iberoamericana and complemented her training with specialized programs in high-temperature ceramics and raku at Taller El Olvido under the guidance of Hilda San Vicente. She also completed the Diploma Program Introducción al Mercado del Arte, offered by Sotheby’s Institute of Art in collaboration with Universidad Centro.
She has held solo exhibitions in Mexico City, including 35 Años Salón Dès Aztecas (Galería Casa Eme, 2024), La forma del alma (Galería Casa Eme, 2023), and Volumen y color (Centro Cultural Pedregal, 2022).
Ayala has also participated in group exhibitions in Mexico, Belize, Panama, and the United States. These include Abstracciones (Galería Picci Fine Arts, 2024); Tour Arte sobre Ruedas (Fundación Sebastián, 2023); Liliths de mayo invitadas al paraíso (Galería La Mercantil del Diseño, 2022); A pesar de la realidad (ARM NFT & Contemporary Art Gallery, 2022); and Art Raiders (Galería La Mercantil del Diseño, 2021). Her work has also been included in international exhibitions such as the I Panama Biennial – Mexico Pavilion (2020); International Art Fair Inspire – Art Week Miami (2019); exhibitions at Ralwins Gallery in Atlanta (2020); and at the Instituto de Cultura de México in Belize (2022). Over the course of a decade, she participated in the annual editions of Salón Dès Aztecas (2012–2022), one of the active platforms for the presentation of contemporary sculpture in Mexico.
Her career has been recognized in various sculpture-focused contexts, and she recently completed an artist residency at Galería Alejandra Topete (Mexico City), where she developed new work.
